Academy Award winner Hilary Swank likely to star in the Hollywood remake of Drishyam!
Malayalam movie lovers are all eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Drishyam 2’. The sequel to the 2013-blockbuster film is directed by Jeethu Joseph and has superstar Mohanlal reprising his role of Georgekutty. The film is set for a direct release on Amazon Prime Video on February 19.
Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph has revealed that there are chances of ‘Drishyam’ getting remade in Hollywood. Apparently, an Indian working in Hollywood had approached him with the possibility of a remake. Interestingly, they are planning to remake the film by making it heroine-centric. While the protagonist in the original film was a middle-class family man, the English version will have a woman as the lead. Two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank is being considered to play this role. Jeethu has already sent the English version of the script and is waiting for a word from them. He also added that if the project gets materialized, a Hollywood-based filmmaker will be helming it.
‘Drishyam’ was a huge success during the time of its release. Apart from being a massive commercial success, the film also got rave reviews from critics. It was later remade successfully in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. A Chinese and Sri Lankan Sinhala version also got released later.
