Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Devarakonda in Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual

Vijay Devarakonda is a popular name among the South Indian cinephiles after his stunning performance in this year’s superhit Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. Though Vijay has acted in a few other hit films like Yevade Subramanyam and Pelli Choopulu, it was his performance in Arjun Reddy that made him hugely popular. The actor is now shooting for Mahanati, directed by his Yevade Subramanyam director Nag Ashwin.

Mahanati is a biopic on legendary actress Savithri. While Keerthy Suresh plays Savithri’s role, Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan will be seen as yesteryear actor Gemini Ganesan in the movie. Mahanti is Dulquer’s debut movie in Telugu and he is playing a very challenging character straightway.

Gemini Ganesan was briefly married to Savithri and the movie will showcase more about their relationship. Dulquer is playing the different phases of the late actor, for which he will be seen in multiple looks. Samantha and Vijay Devarakonda are playing journalists in the movie. The story evolves as the two set out to piece together the story of Savithri’s life. Rajendra Prasad, Mohan Babu and Prakash Raj are also part of the supporting cast.

Mahanati is being produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. It is currently nearing the final stages of shooting and the makers are planning to wrap it up before the first week of January. As announced recently, the movie will be hitting screens worldwide on March 29. It is also a being made simultaneously in Tamil as ‘Nadigayar Thilagam’. A dubbed version in Malayalam is also planned to be released on the same day.
