Ashiq Abu to produce Vinayakan’s directorial debut Party
Vinayakan is turning a director next year with a film titled ‘Party’. Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal are producing the film under their banner OPM Cinemas. Vinayakan himself is scripting the film, more details regarding which are not yet known. Interestingly, it is Vinayakan’s 25th year in cinema and Aashiq Abu took this special occasion to formally announce the project.
Back in the 90s, Vinayakan started his career in cinema as a background dancer. He then acted in numerous comedy and negative characters before getting his big break with the Rajeev Ravi directorial ‘Kammattipaadam’. Vinayakan’s stellar performance as the wounded gangster Ganga is regarded as one of the finest of this decade and won him several accolades including the Kerala State Award.
Ever since ‘Kammattipaadam’, Vinayakan has become choosy and has mostly bagged meaty roles. It will be interesting to see him donning the director’s hat. On the acting front, he will be seen in major roles in upcoming films like ‘Operation Java’, ‘Pada’ and ‘Oruthee’. He is also playing the antagonist’s role in the much hyped Tamil film ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’.
