Back to back big releases for Mammootty in February!!
Of late, Mammootty has mostly been doing mass entertainers. ‘Yatra’ and ‘Peranbu’ are two of his upcoming films that stand out as they promise to bring out the actor in Mammootty rather than the star. While ‘Peranbu’ is a Tamil film that has already won loads of acclaim, ‘Yatra’ is the Telugu biopic of late political leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Both the films are highly anticipated by movie lovers. Putting an end to their long wait, both these films will be hitting screens in February.
‘Yatra’ directed by Mahi V Raghav is not an usual biopic film. YS Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR is arguably one of the most popular and revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. The movie primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career. ‘Yatra’ was initially planned for release in December but is now scheduled for February 8.
After garnering acclaim from various international film festivals, Mammootty’s Tamil film ‘Peranbu’ is finally set for release in February. Written and directed by Ram, the movie tells a poignant story of a doting father and his mentally challenged girl child. Earlier this year, ‘Peranbu’ was screened at Rotterdam festival (IFFR), Shanghai festival and International Film Festival of India, Goa (IFFI). Exact theaterical release date has not yet been announced.
