Chekka Chivantha Vaanam: Here’s the first look of Mani Ratnam’s next
For the last few months, social medias have seen all sorts of speculations about the cast of Mani Ratnam’s next movie. Finally, the official announcement has been made today via Twitter. The movie is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. The Tamil version is titled as ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ while the Telugu version is named ‘Nawab’.
Apparently, the legendary filmmaker has pulled off a casting coup of sorts by roping in Arvind Swamy, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh for the lead roles. Malayali actor Fahadh Faasil was initially cast in the movie, but he opted out recently due to some unknown reasons. Arun Vijay has replaced him in the role.
If reports are to be believed, this upcoming movie is an action packed gangster flick. Reportedly, Vijay Sethupathi plays a police officer in the movie while Arvind Swamy, Simbu and Arun Vijay play gangster brothers. Veteran actors Prakash Raj and Jayasudha will be seen as their parents. It is reported that all the actors will have equal scope for performance in the movie.
Mani Ratnam has also brought on board his regular set of technicians – composer AR Rahman, lyricist Vairamuthu, cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and editor Sreekar Prasad. Director Bejoy Nambiar is also part of the team as creative producer. Lyca Productions is producing the movie on a first copy basis along with Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies.
