Chemban Vinod Jose plays a Neanderthal in Jallikkattu
Lijo Jose Pelissery’s ‘Jallikattu’ is one film that it is unanimously awaited by Malayali as well as non-Malayali cinephiles. The movie has been in the making for nearly a year and if reports are to be believed, it will hit screens in October. Starring Antony Varghese in the lead, the movie is based on S Hareesh’s short story ‘Maoist’.
The story discusses about the Maoist situation and a person’s right to freedom, from the perspective of two buffaloes.
Taking the crux out of Hareesh’s short story, the have developed a screenplay which explores the beastly side of man. According to Lijo, ‘Jallikkattu’ is a satire told with lot of humour. Interestingly, Chemban Vinod plays a Neanderthal in the film. He himself reveled this in a recent interview.
Chemban has been part of Lijo’s films so far and for ‘Ee Maa Yau’, he won the prestigious Silver Peacock Award for Best Actor at International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2018. Playing a Neanderthal is something unheard of in Malayalam. So, the audience can expect to see another stellar performance from Chemban Vinod.
‘Jallikkattu’ was recently watched by celebs like Indrajith Sukumaran, Geetu Mohandas and Anurag Kashyap and they all had high words of praise for it. Official announcement regarding its theatrical release date is expected to be made soon.
