Cherukadha: Soubin reveals about his dream project with Mammootty
Riding on a string of hits and powerful performances, Soubin Shahir has established himself as a bankable actor who can shoulder films on his own. With a handful of projects in his kitty, he is currently one of the most busiest actors in Malayalam industry. Despite that he still has his filmmkaing plans intact. After the success of his directorial debut ‘Parava’, there were talks about Soubin planning a film with Mammootty. But it has been two years since then and there have been no updates it.
In a recent interview with The Cue, Soubin opened up about the project. The film was initially titled as ‘Pani Paali’ but has now been changed to ‘Cherukadha’. Soubin calls it is his dream project. According to him, it has a very interesting subject that involves complex mind games and demands a different making style. It belongs to a genre that’s been attempted very rarely in Malayalam.
Since ‘Cherukadha’ is a project very close to heart, Soubin wanted to make a bigger film before that to prove himself as a director. That’s how he decided to make his debut with ‘Parava’. When Soubin intially told Mammootty about ‘Cherukadha’, the star was impressed by it and agreed to do it immediately. But it got delayed to both their proper commitments. Soubin still made it clear that the project will definitely happen. He firmly believes that it will be very comfortable working with Mammootty, as he has known the star from a very young age.
