Covid-19: Vicky Kaushal donates Rs 1 crore to PM-CARES and Maharashtra government
More Bollywood stars are coming forward to donate funds to help the government in the fight against the deadly Corona virus. Following the foot steps of Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra, ‘Uri’ star Vicky Kaushal has now pledged financial assistance to the newly launched Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Vicky has shared tbe following message on his Instagram handle,
“While I’m blessed enough to be seated with my loved ones in the comforts of my home, there are many who are not as fortunate. In this time of crisis, I humbly pledge to contribute an amount of Rs. 1 crore to PM-CARES and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s relief fund.
We are in this together ad we’ll win this together. Let us all do our bit for a healthier and stronger future. Jai Hind. #IndiaFightsCorona”
Akshay Kumar was among the first from Bollywood to contribute towards the fight against Covid-19. He donated Rs 25 crore to PM Cares Fund. Anushka Sharma and her husband Virat Kohli donated Rs. 3 crores to the relief fund. Varun Dhawan also provided a total of Rs 55 lakhs to PM CARES fund and Maharashtra CM’s fund.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Being Human Foundation has pledged to help about 25,000 of the film industry workers who have been affected badly by the lock down. It is learnt that Salman Khan’s foundation will directly transfer money to their bank accounts.
Similarly in the South Indian film industry, celebrities like Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Chiranjeevi, Suriya, Karthi, Prabhas, Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, Sivakarthikeyan, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan and many others have contributed generously to support the daily wage labourers of the film industry.
