Dulquer Salmaan is the only actor from Mollywood to feature in the top 15 in Times Most Desirable Men 2016
Every year Times group conducts a survey to find the top 50 most desirable men of the year. The votes are submitted online and along with that the internal jury decides the final list. The list for the year 2016 was published recently. Mr. World 2016 Rohit Khandelwal has topped the list followed by India’s limited overs skipper Virat Kohli at the second position.
Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu and Mollywood’s young sensation Dulquer Salmaan are the only South Indian actors to feature in the top 15 of the list. Mahesh Babu is placed at 7 and Dulquer at 14th in the list. Besides Dulquer, Nivin Pauly is the only other Malayali actor to find a place in list. He is placed at 28th position.
Last year, Dulquer was at 41st position. This time he has taken a huge leap to topple other big stars like John Abraham (15), MS Dhoni (18), Baahubali actors Prabhas (22), Rana Daggubati (24) and Vidyut Jamwal (33).
Dulquer Salmaan is easily the most popular among the younger generation of actors in Mollywood currently. He enjoys a huge fan base, especially amongst the youngsters. Dulquer, apart from being a good actor is looked up as a style icon. His pan Indian looks, incredible charm and add to that his amazing acting prowess, makes him an instant audience favourite.
His popularity outside Kerala has helped him to get big offers from other industries. He is making his Telugu debut this year with Mahanati, a biopic on legendary actress Savithri. The movie, directed by Nag Ashwin is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. Keerthy Suresh is playing the role of Savitri in her biopic. Dulquer is playing the role of her husband, the legendary actor Gemini Ganesan in the movie. He has also committed for three films in Tamil; Bejoy Nambiar’s bilingual Solo, Ra Karthik’s romantic travelogue and Desingh Periyasamy’s untitled movie.
