Excellent weekend collections for Dileep’s Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel
Dileep starrer Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel hit screens last Thursday (February 21). The movie written and directed by B Unnikrishnan has taken a good opening, particularly at the Kerala box office. The fact that the movie had an extended weekend run has benefited the movie immensely. Though the critic reviews have been mixed, theatre response suggests that common audience have lapped up the movie.
From the first three days of run in Kochi multiplexes, the movie has already gone last the Rs 10 lakh mark. In rest of India centres like Bangalore, the movie is having good occupancy. Dileep’s popularity and the support of the family audience is helping the movie commercially.
‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel’falls under the genre of a suspense-drama-cum-thriller with comedy elements in it. Dileep’s role of a struggling lawyer with a stuttering problem has earned him appreciation. Others in the cast include Priya Anand, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aju Varghese, Renji Panciker, Vamsi Krishna, Harish Uthaman, ‘Kalakeya’ Prabhakar, Bindu Panicker and Siddique.
The movie is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, a production giant based in Bollywood. There are also reports about a possible remake in Hindi with Shah Rukh Khan reprising Dileep’s role, but an official confirmation in this regard is still awaited.
