Gopi Sunder starts composing for Mammootty’s much-awaited film Bilal
It has been over two years since the second part of Mammootty’s cult gangster film ‘Big B’ got announced. After all the waiting, the film is finally getting ready to go on floors. Amal Neerad, who made his directorial debut with ‘Big B’, is helming the sequel as well. Composer Gopi Sunder has also been retained. Last day, he took to his social media handle to share a selfie taken with Amal Neerad during the recording session of ‘Bilal’. It is worth a mention that Gopi Sunder’s stellar background score in ‘Big B’ holds an iconic status. Naturally, there will be an added pressure on him in ‘Bilal’.
During its time of release in 2007, ‘Big B’ could not fare well at the box office. But over the years, it went on to attain a cult status. It was an extremely stylishly shot Kochi-based gangster flick that marked the arrival of a bunch of youngsters who later went on to carve a niche for themselves in the industry.
Amal Neerad’s slick direction, Sameer Thahir’s stylized visuals, Unni R’s dynamic one-liners and Gopi Sunder’s pulsating background score together made the film a memorable one. Along with all the technical brilliance, there was also Mammootty with his towering screen presence. It is no secret that Bilal, till date, remains one of his most popular characters among the fans.
‘Bilal’ already has sky-high hype, so it will be a tough task for Amal Neerad and team to meet the expectations. Official announcement with details regarding the cast, crew and when shoot begins are expected to be made soon.
