If I’m the reason people are being prejudiced against Adventures of Omanakuttan, then please forget about me: Asif Ali
Debutant director Rohit VS’s Adventures Of Omanakuttan is slowly getting back on it’s feet thanks to power of social medias. The movie starring Asif Ali in the lead was released on May 5 along with Godha and Achayans.
Eventhough the movie garnered good reviews from the critics and the audience, it was on the verge of a wash out. It had very less promotions from the makers side and they failed to get good theaters.
Lead actor Asif Ali appeared on Facebook live to address the issue. The actor was away from Facebook for a while as he could not tolerate the negativity that he saw in the cyber space following the actress assault incident. Speaking about Adventures Of Omanakuttan, Asif said the team crossed a lot of hurdles before they could finally release the movie. It was long in the making, for almost two years. Production issues, schedule breaks, personal issues for lead actors all affected the movie’s shoot.
Asif Ali in the live video said, “Adventures of Omanakuttan is the result of a lot of people’s hard work. It is a good movie and this is the first time I have tried a character role. Many have rated it as my best performance till date. Some of them have pointed at the lag in the first half, but it was done intentionally as director Rohit felt that the script demanded it. If I am the reason people are not watching the movie from theaters, I request you all not to be prejudiced against Adventures of Omanakuttan. I don’t claim it to be an extraordinary movie. It is an experimental film that deserves your support. New directors will have the confidence to make such movies only if people show their support by watching it from theaters.”
Adventures Of Omanakuttan stars Asif Ali and Bhavana in the lead roles. Aju Varghese, Siddique and Saiju Kurup have essayed the supporting roles in the movie. It is co-written by director Rohith along with Sameer Abdul.
