Jeethu Joseph has plans to make a sequel to Drishyam, reveals Kalabhavan Shajohn
It has been six years since the release of Mohanlal starrer ‘Drishyam’ but the film still remains a hot favorite among many for the sheer brilliance in Jeethu Joseph’s screenplay. It is easily one of the finest written thriller films that went on to be successfully remade in multiple languages. Even today, ‘Drishyam’ has a cult following and that was evident from the stellar response to a recent fan fiction post.
A youngster named Shyam Varkala had recently written a fan fiction on how the character Sahadhevan, after 20 long years, would eventually find where Georgekutty buried the body of Varun Prabhakar. Unlike the usual fan fiction posts, Shyam’s piece on ‘Drishyam’ has a real life connect that is certain to tug an average Malayali’s heartstrings. Within no time, the post went viral across social medias.
Director Jeethu Joseph and Kalabhavan Shajohn, who played Sahadevan, had words of appreciation for Shyam’s writing. Shajohn also revealed there are plans to make a sequel to ‘Drishyam’. Apparently, Mohanlal had hinted to him about making a second part some time back. Talks within the industry suggest Jeethu definitely has such plans as the story also has a wide scope. Official confirmation is still awaited.
Jeethu Joseph recently finished the shoot of his Tamil film starring Karthi, Jyothika and Nikhila Vimal. The director wil be next teaming up with Mohanlal and Trisha for a big budget film that will be shot extensively in foreign locations.
