Joju George plays Nivin Pauly’s father in Thuramukham!
Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Thuramukham’ has an elaborate star cast comprising several talented actors. While Nivin Pauly plays the lead role, actors like Joju George, Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Darshana Rajendran, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith, Sudev Nair and Manikandan R Achari will be seen in substantial roles.
‘Thuramukham’ has Nivin Pauly playing the role of a Mattanchery based port-labourer named Moidu. Joju George will be seen as Nivin’s father in the film. The two actors had earlier worked together in films like ‘Neram’, ‘1983’ and ‘Action Hero Biju’.
Initially, Joju’s character in ‘Thuramukham’ was supposed to be done by Biju Menon, but he opted out due to some unknown reasons. Arjun Ashokan and Nivin will be seen as siblings in the film while Joju and Poornima Indrajith essay the parts of their parents. Indrajith also plays a crucial role, which we hear is based on a real-life person. Sudev Nair is portraying a negative-shaded role in the film.
‘Thuramukham’ is actually based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 1950s wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive ‘work guarantee’ scheme, which had resulted in police firing and killing of three workers in Mattancherry. Gopan Chidambaram, one of the scenarists of ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’, has scripted this film.
