Kalidas Jayaram’s next with Jayaraj titled as Backpack
We had recently reported about Kalidas Jayaram starring in award-winning filmmaker Jayaraj’s new film. Kalidas’ father, actor Jayaram revealed this during an exclusive chat with Onlookers Media. The film has been titled as ‘Backpack’ and its shoot is currently progressing.
Jayaraj has scripted the film that has newcomer Karthika as the female lead. Renji Panicker will also been seen in a prominent role. Abhinandan Ramanujan, well known for his work in films like ‘Amen’ and ‘Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal’, is the cinematographer. More details will be officially announced by the makers very soon.
Though it is Jayaraj’s first film with Kalidas, he has worked several times with the youngster’s father. In the recent chat with us, Jayaram opined that it is a great blessing for his son to work with a veteran like Jayaraj at such an early stage of his career. Of late, the director has been successfully doing festival-centric films. So it will be interesting to see if he makes a similar offbeat one with Kalidas or rather opt for a more commercially viable mainstream film.
Kalidas currently has ‘Happy Sardar’ gearing up for release. The movie helmed by writer-director couple Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip has the actor playing a Punjabi’s role. Apart from that, he also has the Santosh Sivan directorial ‘Jack and Jill’ getting ready.
