Kannada superstar Sudeep in Mammootty’s Mamankam?
Shoot for Mammootty’s period flick Mamankam is currently progressing in Mangalore. The movie is being directed by Sajeev Pillai, Mamankam marks the directorial debut of Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of Adoor Gopalakrishnan. He scripted the movie after doing extensive research works for nearly 12 years.
The movie is based on the medieval fair, Mamankam, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.
Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is funding this big budget project. The makers had informed that some big stars from other industries will be part of the movie. The female lead’s part will be played by a Bollywood actress while a young star from Tamil industry will be seen as the second hero. However, the makers have not yet revealed their names officially.
Last day, a photo of Mammootty with Kannada superstar Sudeep surfaced online which soon triggered talks about the two acting together in Mamankam. The possibility is certainly high as Sudeep is a well known actor in the South. Since the movie will be dubbed in all major Indian languages, the makers would love to have a popular actor like Sudeep on board.
Neeraj Madhav, ‘Queen’ fame Dhruv, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal are already part of the supporting cast. An official announcement with details regarding the full cast will be made only after the first leg of shoot is over.
The movie’s technical crew includes some big names. Action sequences is choreographed by Kaecha Kampakdee known for his works in movies like Baahubali 2, Thuppakki, Bhaagi etc. VFX works is headed by RC Kamala Kannan, who has worked in several high profile projects in South Indian cinema. Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh is the cinematographer and M Jayachandran has been signed as the composer. Full fledged shoot for the movie will begin only by May.
