Maanagaram remake: Here’s the first look of Santhosh Sivan directorial Mumbaikar
We had earlier reported about ace-cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan remaking the hit Tamil film ‘Maanagaram’ in Hindi. The film has been titled as ‘Mumbaikar’ and it has Vikrant Massey and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. Today, on the occasion of Vikrant’s birthday, the makers have shared the first look poster. The film also stars Sanjay Mishra, Tanya Maniktala, Ranvir Shorey, Hridhu Haroon and Sachin Khedekar.
‘Maanagaram’ starring Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassanadra and Sri as the leads is a hyperlink thriller that got released four years back in 2017. The film was as a sleeper hit at the box office. It was the directorial debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj, who later went on to make blockbuster films ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Master’.
‘Mumbaikar’, the Hindi version of ‘Maanagaram’, is said to be adapted to suit the sensibilities of the North Indian audience. Vikrant Massey is reprising the angry young man’s role played by Sundeep Kishan in Tamil. Vijay Sethupathi is supposedly playing the part played by Munishkanth.
Besides directing, Santosh Sivan is also cranking the camera and music department is handled by Prashant Pillai. Malayali producer Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films is backing the film.
