Maari 2 opens to great response; Director Balaji Mohan thanks audience for the support
Amidst much fanfare, Dhanush’s ‘Maari 2’ hit screens last day. The movie, which is a sequel to his 2015 flick ‘Maari’, is directed by Balaji Mohan. Though the first part was not a big hit, Dhanush’s character sketch and the music was a big rage. Naturally there was a good pre-release buzz and the opening response proves the same. The movie has opened to largely positive reviews with critics rating it as a proper Tamil commercial flick with equal dosage of mass elements, romance and emotions.
Director Balaji Mohan has written a brief note thanking the audience and his team members. His tweet reads,
Thank u all for everythin. My #Maari2 family-the cast & crew, press, media, critics, the loving #DFans & the audience – #Maari fans, cinema lovers, masala movie lovers, families & kids…u’ve all given me something for this film. By the grace of existence I cherish it
In the sequel, Dhanush reprises his role of the naughty don Maari. Along with that the movie also introduces a whole new set of characters. The female lead is played by Sai Pallavi, whose performance has won unanimous praise. Along with her, the other actor who won the bulk of appreciation is Tovino Thomas, who plays the villain role in the movie. Krishna, Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar, Robo Shankar and Vinoth play major roles in the movie.
