Major Ravi and Mohanlal to team up again; Major Mahadevan series to continue
Mohanlal’s highly anticipated movie 1971 Beyond Borders was finally released yesterday (April 7). The movie, directed by Major Ravi is the fourth in the Major Mahadevan series after Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar.
1971 Beyond Borders is based on the 1971 Indo- Pak war. The actor has played a dual role in the movie as Major Mahadevan and his father Sahadevan. Though the movie was opened to mixed reviews, mainly due to the clichés and the usual storytelling pattern, it is Mohanlal’s power packed performance that has saved the movie.
Director Major Ravi with his 24 year experience in the army brought a new flair to the military based movies in Mollywood. His Keerthichakra, first installment in the Major Mahadevan series, is considered as one of the finest army movies ever made in Mollywood.
The director in a recent interview revealed that he will be teaming up with Mohanlal once again for the next part in the series. This time Major Mahadevan will be on a mission to rescue soldiers held captives by terrorists in a foreign country. According to the director, it is a big budget movie set entirely in the foreign countries. Discussions regarding the project have already started.
It is not yet known when the movie will go on floors as Mohanlal has already committed for several big budget movies for the next two years. He is currently shooting for B Unnikrishnan’s Villain. He will next join the sets of ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon’s debut directorial Odiyan. The highly anticipated Lucifer, Randamoozham, Shaji Kailas- Renji Panicker movie and another with Lal Jose are some other projects Mohanlal has committed for.
