Malayalam Industry Clears the Path for Empuraan as Major Releases Get Postponed

With the highly anticipated Empuraan set to hit theaters on March 27, the Malayalam film industry has made way for the Mohanlal-starrer by postponing several releases. Two notable films, Lovely and Abhyanthara Kuttavali, which were initially scheduled for April 4, have now been pushed to later dates. Lovely, which was expected to be a romantic entertainer, has been delayed by a week or two, while Asif Ali’s Abhyanthara Kuttavali has officially been rescheduled for April 17. This move highlights the immense dominance Empuraan holds at the box office, with distributors and filmmakers strategically avoiding competition with the mass action spectacle.

From March 27 to April 10, Empuraan will remain the undisputed Malayalam release, enjoying an uninterrupted theatrical run. The film, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, has already shattered records with massive advance bookings across Kerala and overseas. With industry-wide anticipation and a worldwide release in multiple languages, Empuraan is poised to become Mollywood’s biggest-ever box office opener. Trade analysts predict it will comfortably surpass Marakkar’s opening day record and set a new benchmark for the industry.

The decision by other filmmakers to postpone their releases underscores Mohanlal’s unmatched star power and Empuraan’s dominance. With record-breaking ticket sales and fans eagerly awaiting its release, Empuraan is set to take over the box office like never before. Meanwhile, audiences can look forward to Lovely and Abhyanthara Kuttavali later in April, once Empuraan has completed its thunderous opening phase.
