Mamankam’s pre-production in full swing; M Jayachandran confirmed as the music director!
The announcement of Mammootty’s historic-epic film came as a pleasant surprise to the audience. If there is one actor in Malayalam who has proved his amazing ability to act in such films, it has to be Mammootty. His performances in films like Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Pazhassi Raja have earned him numerous accolades including the National Award for best actor. Naturally, expectations are on the higher side for Mamankam.
Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of the legendary Adoor Gopalakrishnan, is making his directorial debut with this movie. Sajeev has scripted the film after doing extensive research works for nearly 12 years. Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is backing this big budget project, which is said to be the biggest project in the megastar’s career.
Pre-production works for the movie is currently progressing at a rapid pace. Veteran composer M Jayachandran has already been confirmed as the music director. The makers are also in talks with some other leading technicians for associating with this ambitious project. Casting process is also happening simultaneously and will be finalized in a couple of week’s time. They had already made it clear that, apart from Mammootty, many other big stars will also be part of this film.
The movie is based on Mamankam, the medieval fair, which was celebrated every 12 years from 800 AD to 1755 AD. Mamankam festival was held on the banks of Bharathapuzha in Tirunavaya where brave warriors from across the country who would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty will be seen as a Chekavar in this upcoming movie.
Mangalore and Kasargod have been finalized as the major locations. If reports are to be believed, the movie will go on floors by February end. Mammootty is expected to join the sets by March after finishing his other prior commitments. Mamankam is being planned to be shot in multiple schedules and is excepted to hit screens sometime in 2019.
