Mammootty was always our first choice; One would not have happened had he refused to do the film: Santhosh Viswanath
Ever since its announcement, there has always been a positive sense of expectations around ‘One’. The fact that Mammootty is doing a political film in Malayalam after a very long and him teaming up with the acclaimed writer duo of Bobby-Sanjay are the major reasons behind the hype. Santhosh Viswanath, who made his debut with ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’, is directing the film.
The recently released teaser of ‘One’ has been well received in social medias. Mammootty looks every bit convincing as the State Chief Minister Kadakkal Chandran. Interestingly, Mammootty was the first and only choice for this role. Director Santhosh Viswanath revealed this in a recent interview. According to him, ‘One’ would not have materialized had Mammootty refused to do the film. Bobby and Sanjay started scripting the film only after getting the star’s assurance.
With ‘One’, the makers are trying to address how an ideal Chief Minister should function. Though the film is inspired from some real-life incidents, Mammootty’s character is not based on any particular political leader. Along with him, the film has a big supporting cast comprising of actors like Murali Gopy, Nimisha Sajayan, Ranjith, Mathew Thomas, Joju George, Gayathri Arun, Balachandra Menon, Sudev Nair, Jayan Cherthala, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shanker Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mammukoya and Balaji Sharma.
Sreelakshmi R is producing ‘One’ under the banner of Ichais Productions. Anto Joseph Film Company is releasing the film in Kerala. It is slated to hit screens by the first week of April.
