Mammootty congratulated me after hearing the news : Alencier Ley Lopez
Alencier Ley Lopez recently staged an unique protest in the Kasargod bus stand to mark the recent attack of the BJP and other right-wing organizations on popular Mollywood filmmaker Kamal. He sang poems with the theme of a man carrying a sack bag to reach America by bus. The actor was seen wearing a US flag around his waist and singing the love for underwear is not patriotism.
His protest grabbed all the eyeballs as the video went viral in social media. Many celebrities and netizens praised the actor for boldly stepping forward and address such a sensitive issue, when many prominent stars maintained silence over the issue.
In a recent interview, he said that Megastar Mammootty congratulated him for staging the protest. Director Lal Jose also called and appreciated him.
Alencier Ley said that actors need not respond for every issue but it will dangerous if they always confine themselves to their comfort zone and keep silence.
He added, “As an actor, my medium of expression is acting. I have been seeing the changes happening in our country for sometime now and I find hidden fascism everywhere. When I heard the comment passed by the leaders of BJP against Kamal, I felt that it’s time to react. Nobody has the right to take away someone’s human rights and the freedom of expression in the name of any religion or region. It’s also a indication that we are moving towards an autocratic governance. I held my protest in the main bus stand of Kasaragod, where the Centre loyalists are strong.”
BJP State general secretary AN Radhakrishnan made a controversial statement against director Kamal asking him to move out of the country if he cannot accept the rules in India. The statement was made with regard to director Kamal’s response to police entering cinema halls to arrest delegates during the IFFK for not standing up while the national anthem was played.
