Mammootty to play the lead in cinematographer Shamdat’s debut directorial
Mammootty recently started shooting for his upcoming movie with 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar. The actor has now signed for a new movie with popular cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen. This yet to be titled movie will be the debut directorial of Shamdat. We are informed that the movie will go on floors this year itself.
Shamdat is noted for his visuals in movies like Ritu, Seniors, and the recently released Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. He has worked with Kamal Hassan in movies like Uttama Villain and the yet to be released Vishwaroopam 2. He has earlier worked with Mammootty in his two movies, Pramani and Venicile Vyapari.
Mammootty meanwhile has wrapped up his portions for Puthan Panam directed by ace filmmaker Ranjith. He is playing the character Nithyananda Shenoy, a middle aged business in the movie. In Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie, Mammootty is playing a Idduki native who comes to Kochi as a teacher trainer.
This year, Mammootty has also committed for movies with directors like Shafi, Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev, writer Sethu and Vysakh.
After finishing his portions for Shyam Dhar’s movie, Mammootty is expected to start shooting for Vysakh’s Raja 2, the character sequel of blockbuster Pokkiriraja released in 2010. Fans and neutral audience have pinned high expectations on this movie, as it is Vyshak’s next after the all time blockbuster Pulimurugan. The director has informed that it will be a big budget project and is being planned as a multilingual.
His next release is the much anticipated, The Great Father scheduled to hit screens on March 30. National award winner Ram’s bilingual Peranbu is also awaiting release.
