According to the latest report from the Malayalam film industry, Mega star Mammootty is all set to do the role of a Sculptor and that too in a film directing by the veteran director Kamal. Mammootty is joining hands with Kamal after the gap of 9 years and their last outing was the film named Karutha Pakshikal which has released way back in 2006. The reports says that the shooting of the film will begin in this month itself and Jewel Mary will be the female lead in this film.
She is the one who was the female lead of Mammootty’s film Pathemary which is directing y the national award winning director Salim Ahammad and it was her debut film as well. Now she got the chance to work with the mega star again in the much anticipated Kamal film. P S Rafeeq had written the screenplay of the film and Mammootty is doing the role of a sculptor for the very first time in his career.
Kamal and Mammootty had done 3 films together and they were Mazhayethum Munpe, Azhakiya Ravanan and Karutha Pakshikal. Out of these 3 Mazhayethum Munpe was the only box office success they have. Azhakiya Ravanan even though has a great following now -a -days was a failure at box office during the time of its release. Karutha Pakshikal got good critical appreciation but not a one which made any mark at the box office. May be the new film by this team may make a mark at box office.
Kamal’s last films were with Jayaram and Prithviraj which are Nadan and Celluloid respectively in which celluloid had got great appreciation and helped Prithviraj to get a best actor state award. Kamal is the producer of that film as well. His previous outing was with Jayaram’s Nadan which also got good critic reviews but failed to make a mark in the money register. So Kamal also needs a box office hit desperately and hoping that his association with Mammootty can bring that luck to him.
