Mammootty to play a stylish cop in Abrahaminte Santhathikal
Recently, Mammootty celebrated his 66th birthday and as a treat for his fans, his new project was announced. The megastar will be playing the lead in a thriller titled Abrahaminte Santhathikal – A Police Story. The movie is to be directed by Shaji Padoor, a veteran who has been in the industry for over two decades as an associate director. Haneef Adeni, the director of Mammootty’s blockbuster movie The Great Father is scripting this upcoming movie.
According to certain reports, Mammootty will be seen as an extremely stylish police officer in the movie. Though he has done cop acts in several movies in the past, this one will be very different from the ones he has done so far. It will be a complete entertainer that can be enjoyed by both his fans and the family audiences of Kerala.
Mammootty was last seen as a police officer in Kasaba directed by Nithin Renji Panicker. His character Rajan Zachariah, was not the usual ‘filmy’ honest and diplomatic cop, but one with a tinge of misogyny and grey shades. Mammootty has played several police characters in his career like the iconic Balram from Avanazhi and Perumal from August 1. Some of the other films where he donned the khakis are Yavanika, Kariyila Kaatu Pole, Rakshasarajavu, Roudram etc.
Incidentally, Mammootty is playing a police officer in another upcoming movie of his titled as Streetlights. This investigative thriller marks the directorial debut of noted cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen. Streetlights is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam.
Abrahaminte Santhathikal will go on floors in January next year. The movie will be shot extensively in Ernakulam. More details regarding the cast and other crew members is expected to be announced very soon.
