Mammootty Set to Star in Another Telugu Film; Yathra 2 Production to Commence Soon
Mammootty, the iconic figure from Mollywood, has carved a niche for himself in the hearts of Telugu audiences as well, thanks to his remarkable contributions to Telugu cinema over the years. Despite the lukewarm reception of his recent Telugu release “Agent,” featuring Akhil Akkineni in the lead role, Mammootty’s star power remains undiminished in the Telugu film industry.
According to the latest reports, Mammootty is poised to embark on another Telugu cinematic venture in the near future, and it’s none other than the sequel to his 2019 Telugu hit, “Yathra,” directed by the talented Mahi V Raghav. “Yathra 2” will also be directed by Mahi, and the lead role will be essayed by Tamil actor Jeeva, while Mammootty will grace the film with a pivotal supporting role.
In the original “Yathra,” Mammootty took on the lead role, masterfully portraying the late Andhra Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy. However, “Yathra 2” takes a different narrative trajectory, focusing on the journey of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the son of YSR, and his monumental Padayatra in 2019. This Padayatra played a pivotal role in his journey to becoming the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh after winning the elections in 2019.
While unconfirmed reports swirl about Mammootty’s involvement, it is rumored that he has been offered a staggering 14 crores to be part of this eagerly anticipated sequel.
