Mammootty’s CBI 5 to hit screens for Onam?
It has been long since reports about the fifth instalment in CBI series started emerging. Director K Madhu and scriptwriter SN Swamy have also confirmed the project and they have been waiting for Mammootty’s dates. We hear that the makers are planning to start shortly and release it for this year’s Onam in September.
CBI series is easily the most popular franchise in Malayalam cinema. The lead character Sethurama Iyer, a brilliant investigating officer who solves his cases using brain over brawn, is among Mammootty’s most celebrated characters of all-time. Four installments of the series have been made and all the four films were helmed by K Madhu and scripted by SN Swamy.
Earlier in an award show, Swamy had said that the fifth installment, which will also be the final part in the CBI series, will be one of the best ever thrillers that Malayalam cinema has produced till date. He is quoted saying, “I’m sure it will be a great experience for the audience. It’s the result of three years of my hardwork. Climax of the movie will redefine the way future thrillers are made in Malayalam. It will trigger the start of a new wave.”
Mammootty is currently shooting for ‘Maamaankam’. After that he will start working on Ramesh Pisharody’s ‘Ganagandharvan’. If things go as per plans, CBI 5 will go on floors after the completion of ‘Ganagandharvan’. ‘Ameer’ with Vinod Vijayan is another project in the pipeline.
