Mammootty’s involvement and dedication stunned me: One director Santhosh Viswanath
After making his directorial debut with a spoof film, ‘Chirakodinja Kinvaukal,’ director Santhosh Viswanath is next helming ‘One’, a political flick with Mammootty in the lead. Award winning writers Bobby and Sanjay are scripting the film. Mammootty plays the role of Kerala State Chief Minister and it is the first time he is doing such a role in Malayalam. Apparently, the star was very keen that his character Kadakkal Chandran should not have resemblance to any particular real-life political leader.
During the shoot, director Santhosh Viswanath was stunned by the veteran star’s dedication and involvement. Initially, the makers had given a brief idea about Kadakkal Chandran’s look, but then Mammootty worked on the character’s gestures and other mannerisms including his dialogue delivery. The results are there to be seen in the recently-released teaser in which he looks every bit convincing as a revered politician. Interestingly, Mammootty was the makers’ only choice for this role. Bobby and Sanjay started scripting the film only after getting the star’s assurance.
Sreelakshmi R is producing ‘One’ under the banner of Ichais Productions. The film is slated to hit screens by the first week of April. Anto Joseph Film Company is releasing it in Kerala.
