Mani Ratnam to team up with Fahadh Faasil?
For the last few months, there have been several reports about director Mani Ratnam planning a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. Names like Dulquer Salmaan, Nani, Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan have been doing the rounds for sometime now. Now, speculations are rife about Mani Ratnam approaching Fahadh Faasil to play the lead in this movie.
Several medias have reported about this news but there is still no official confirmation from either side. Mani Ratnam’s last release was Kaatru Veliyidai starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. The movie, which was an intense romantic drama, opened to extreme reviews with a section calling it another great work from the legend while some criticised it as an underwhelming product.
Post the release of Kaatru Veliyidai, there has been a lot of speculations about Mani Ratnam’s next project. It has been reported that the director will retain Aditi for his bilingual film, that he has been planning for sometime now. Now since Fahadh’s names are doing the rounds, let’s hope it turns out to be true. If the project materializes, we will get to see the ace filmmaker calling shots for one of the finest actors of this generation.
Fahadh, who was initially hesitant to take up projects outside Malayalam as he was apprehensive about his lack of fluency in other languages, is now open to other language films. He is currently doing two Tamil films- Velaikkaran with Mohan Raja also starring Sivakarthikeyan, Nayanthara and Thyagarajan Kumararaja’s yet-to-be titled film which also stars Vijay Sethupathy, Samantha, Mysskin and Nadia Moidu. Velaikkaran, Fahadh’s debut Tamil film has him in the antagonist’s role. The movie is slated to hit screens on September 29.
