Massive sets erected for the final schedule of Maamaankam
Mammootty starrer ‘Maamaankam’ is getting ready as a true epic film. For the final schedule of shoot, the makers have erected huge sets in an area sprawling over 18 acres. According to them, it is one of the biggest ever set works in Indian cinema. The team has already shot in various locations across Kannur, Ernakulam, Ottappalam, Vagamon and Athirapally. The final schedule is expected to last for over 40-60 days. Around 2000 junior artists are expected to be part of this final leg of shoot.
Directed by M Padmakumar, this period flick is about ‘Maamaankam’, a medieval fair where brave warriors from various regions would come together to showcase their skills at combat. The movie has superstar Mammootty in the lead role of a fiery ‘Chaaver’ (warrior). It revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.
Besides Mammootty, the movie also has young star Unni Mukundan in a prominent role as Chandroth Panicker. Kaniha and Anu Sithara play the two female leads. Tarun Raj Arora, Prachi Tehlan, Sudev Nair, Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudheer Sukumaran and many others are part of the supporting cast. Venu Kunnappilly is producing the movie under the banner of Kavya Films.
