Mohanlal to play an underworld don in Shaji Kailas’s socio-political thriller?

Earlier this year, Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas had announced that the banner will be producing a Mohanlal-Shaji Kailas movie in 2018. The director is known for delivering mass entertainers and his upcoming movie with Mohanlal will be no different. Renji Panicker is scripting this film, which is said to be a socio-political thriller.

As per latest reports, Mohanlal will be playing an underworld don in the movie. Sounds like a typical Shaji Kailas mass flick with prominence to action. The fans can be assured of an absolute treat from this legendary trio. Reportedly, the movie is set in Mumbai and Mangalore, and Mohanlal will be playing a powerful don based in this region.

The combo have delivered blockbuster films like Narasimham, Aaram Thamburan and Baba Kalyani. The writer-director duo of Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas are also famous for their 90s blockbusters like The King, Commissioner, Ekalavyan etc. This upcoming movie will mark the duo’s first time collaboration for a Mohanlal starrer and that has certainly heightened the expectations.

The actor is currently on a weight loss programme for VA Shrikumar Menon’s Odiyan. He will be joining the team for the third schedule next week. After the completion of Odiyan, he will be working on Ajoy Varma’s thriller and later with veteran director Bhadran for an untitled film. An official word on when the Shaji Kailas film will go on floors is still awaited.
