Parineeti Chopra replaces Shraddha Kapoor in Saina Nehwal biopic
Last September, it was originally announced that Shraddha Kapoor will be playing the lead in Saina Nehwal’s biopic. The makers had also released a first look poster during the announcement. However, it is now learnt that Shraddha has been replaced by Parineeti Chopra. Amul Gupte will be directing the movie which has been planned as an early 2020 release.
Confirming the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted,
IT’S OFFICIAL… Parineeti Chopra to play renowned badminton player #SainaNehwal… She will start training for the biopic soon… Directed by Amole Gupte… Produced by Bhushan Kumar… Filming will be completed by 2019-end… Early 2020 release.
Shraddha Kapoor had been training hard in badminton under the guidance Indian team coach Pullela Gopichand. But she had to opt out due to her schedule clashes. Parineeti will soon be stepping in her shoes and work hard to play the role.
Saina Nehwal is the only Indian female badminton player to be ranked as World No 1.Her 2012 Olympic bronze medal win remains a defining moment in Indian sporting history. She has also won the badminton singles Commonwealth Gold for the country in 2010, and then again in 2018.
