Parvathy Nair to reprise Anusree’s role in the Tamil remake of Maheshinte Prathikaram
It is already known that Priyadarshan is directing the Tamil remake of last year’s widely acclaimed Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram. Actor/producer Udhayanidhi Stalin and Malayali actress Namitha Pramod are confirmed to play the lead roles.
As per the latest reports, Parvathy Nair has been roped in to reprise the character played by Anusree in the original Malayalam version. Anusree’s character was a prominent one and she won a lot of appreciation for her portrayal of Soumya, Mahesh’s long time girlfriend who dumps him for a better proposal. Parvathy has acted in a few Tamil films like Nimirndhu Nil, Yennai Arindhaal, Uttama Villain etc and this Priyadarshan directorial is expected to provide a big break in her career.
Samuthirakani is essaying the villain’s role in the Tamil version. He had worked with Priyadarshan in last year’s blockbuster movie Oppam alongside Mohanlal. MS Bhaskar will be playing the role of the protagonist’s middle-aged friend, played by Alencier Ley in the original.
Maheshinte Prathikaram, directed by Dileesh Pothan was a huge success, both critically and commercially. It went on to win numerous accolades including a couple of National Awards. Priyadarshan has hinted that the Tamil verison will have some slight changes in the script. They will be tweaking the plot slightly to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. Apparently, there will be much more prominence to humour in the Tamil version.
The Tamil remake is yet to be titled and the movie is being planned to be shot extensively in Theni and nearby regions. Priyadarshan has retained his technicians from Oppam for this movie also. NK Ekambaram is the DOP while MS Ayyappan Nair will be handle the edits. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is funding the movie.
