Peranbu Indian premiere at IFFI today
As we had reported earlier, Mammootty’s Tamil film ‘Peranbu’ has been selected for screening at the 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. The move will be screened today 8.45 PM at INOX – II (Panaji, Goa). Online tickets have already been sold out. Critics and cinephiles have been eagerly waiting for the movie’s screening. Apart from ‘Peranbu’, three other Tamil movies – ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘To-let’ and ‘Baaram’ – have also been selected in the Indian Panorama section.
‘Peranbu’, directed by Ram, tells the poignant story of a doting father and his autistic girl child. The movie
promises to have excellent performances from Mammootty and Sadhana of ‘Thanga Meengal’ fame. The movie had its world premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) and was later screened in the Shanghai International Film Festival. It secured 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category in IFFR and was also nominated for the prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award.
‘Peranbu’ also stars Anjali, Samuthirakani, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Livingston, Anjali Ameer and Siddique. Its technical crew comprises of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and editor Sreekar Prasad. The movie is being produced by PL Thennappan under the banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films. The makers are yet to officially announce the theatrical release date.
