Peranbu selected among the 20 must watch movies at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam!
We had recently reported about Mammootty’s long delayed Peranbu having its world premiere at this year’s International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). The movie was screened on January 27 at the festival and straightaway met with overwhelming response from the audience there.
Peranbu directed by Ram is a hard hitting emotional family drama. Mammootty plays the role of Amudhan, a middle-class father working as a taxi driver abroad. The movie was in the news after it was revealed that transgender artist Anjali Ameer is playing a prominent role in it.
Peranbu, along with Ram’s another movie Taramani were selected among the 20 must watch movies at this year’s IFFR. Taramani starring Andrea Jeremiah and newcomer Vasanth Ravi earned critical acclaim and was an average grosser, when it was released in theatres last August.
Director Ram attended the screening at Rotterdam along with producer PL Thenappan and his close friend and producer J Satish Kumar. This is indeed a proud moment, not just for Kollywood but the whole Indian film industry.
Peranbu has Anjali, Baby Sadhana, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaniha and Samuthirakani playing significant roles in the movie. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music while editing is handled by multiple National award winner Sreekar Prasad. The movie is produced by PL Thennappan under the banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films.
