Rajinikanth’s 2.0 to be released in 47,000 screens in China
Superstar Rajinikanth’s sci-fi marvel 2.0 is set to have its China release next month. The movie will be releasing in a whopping 47,000 screens in the country. China has proven to be a huge market for Indian films. The tremendous success of films like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Secret Superstar’ is a testament to that. 2.0 with its globally appealing storyline is expected to mint big bucks at the Chinese box office. Lyca Productions have associated with HY Media, one of China’s leading distributors, for releasing the movie.
2.0 originally released worldwide in a record number of screens on November 29, last year. The Shankar directorial was released simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles, 2.0 grossed over Rs 500 crores from the box office. Only a handful of Indian movies like the two ‘Baahubali’ films and ‘Dangal’ feature in the elite club. Thanks to Akshay Kumar’s presence, the Hindi version of ‘2.0’ alone earned over Rs 100 crore.
