Rave reviews for Vada Chennai from Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival
As we had reported earlier, Dhanush starrer ‘Vada Chennai’ had its world recently at the Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival. The movie is getting highly positive reviews from critics and cinephiles who watched the movie at the festival. Daniel Kasman, an US based critic has tweeted,
‘Here at the Pingyao Int’l Film Festival, it’ll be hard to top Vetri Maaran’s fiercely energetic, delightfully convoluted hoodlum melodrama, NORTH CHENNAI, starring the great Dhanush. A top-notch world premiere from Tamilnadu. The first part of a planned trilogy—keep ‘em coming!’
‘Vada Chennai’ marks the reunion of Dhanush and director Vetrimaran after the multiple National award winning ‘Aadukalam’. It is an epic gangster saga that spans different timelines. Since it is a vast story set in different timelines, the movie has been planned as a trilogy. Already 20% of the second part has been completed. The makers are also planning to release the prequel of ‘Vada Chennai’ as a web series by next July.
After earning an A certificate for its gritty and raw moments, the first part all set for release this coming Wednesday (October 17). Dhanush’s own banner Wunderbar Films is funding the movie jointly with Lyca Productions.
