Release date confirmed for Mammootty’s Mamangam
The wait for ‘Mamangam’ will come to end next month as the makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens on November 21. ‘Mamangam’ is one of the most awaited films of the year that’s eagerly awaited, not just by the fans but by cinephiles as well. Besides Malayalam, the film will be releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi as well. After the excellent response to the Malayalam teaser, the makers have planned to release the other language teasers today.
‘Mamangam’ is directed by M Padmakumar. As per the makers, it is a historic film with almost 80% of it being inspired from real events. Its original director Sajeev Pillai penned the script after an extensive research of over 12 years. Shankar Ramakrishnan later adapted the screenplay. The film is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every 12 years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years.
Along with Mammootty, ‘Mamangam’ also stars Unni Mukundan in a very prominent role as Chandroth Panicker. Others in the cast include Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Mani Kuttan, Manikandan, Ineya and Sudheer Sukumaran. The film also boasts of a strong technical crew comprising of State award winning cinematographer Manoj Pillai, veteran music director M Jayachandran and art director Mohandas. Bollywood-based composer Sanchit Balhara is handling the background score.
Venu Kunnappilly of Kavya Films is producing this big budget film.
