RRR post-release digital and satellite rights sold for a record Rs 325 crores
SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film ‘RRR’ starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR has had humongous hype right from the time of its release. As its shoot nears competition, its business prospects are being widely discussed. The film is gearing up as a pan-Indian release in all major languages. Such is the expectation level that its satellite and digital rights have been sold for an all-time record price. It is learnt that the post-theatrical satellite rights and digital streaming rights of all Indian languages have been acquired by Zee 5 for a whopping Rs 325 crores. It is said to be the biggest ever deal in Indian cinema history.
‘RRR’ is Rajamouli’s immediate next after the record-breaking success of the ‘Baahubali’ films. That is one of the main reasons behind such huge hype. Moreover, the film has a star-studded cast comprising of Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt.
‘RRR’ is an epic-period film made on a massive budget. It is about two freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. While Jr NTR essays Komaram Bheem’s role, Ram Charan plays the part of Alluri Sitarama Raju. Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani and many others are also part of the cast.
