Santosh Sivan to remake Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Maanagaram in Hindi
Ace cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan is planning to remake the hit Tamil film ‘Maanagaram’ in Hindi. Vikrant Massey has been signed to play one of the lead roles. Malayali producer Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films is backing the film. An official announcement with full details comprising the cast and crew members is expected to be made soon by the makers.
‘Maanagaram’ starring Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassanadra and Sri in the lead roles is a brilliantly made hyperlink thriller. The film that got released in 2017 had emerged as a sleeper hit at the box office. It marked the directorial debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj, who later went on to make ‘Kaithi’ and the Vijay starrer ‘Master’.
While ‘Maanagaram’ had Chennai city as a character in itself, the Hindi version will be set entirely in Mumbai. Vikrant Massey will be reprising the angry young man’s role played by Sundeep Kishan in the original.
