Sathyan Anthikad’s son Akhil Sathyan to direct Fahadh Faasil in his debut film!
As reported by us earlier, veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad’s son Anoop Sathyan is making his directorial debut with a family drama starring Dulquer Salmaan, Suresh Gopi, Shobhana and Nazriya. We hear that Anoop’s brother Akhil Sathyan is also set to turn a director soon. If rumours are to believed, Akhil’s maiden film will have Fahadh Faasil in the lead. Shoot is reportedly set to begin early next year. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.
Akhil Sathyan had previously directed a biographical documentary titled ‘That’s My Boy’. It was screened at multiple international film festivals and garnered attention for its sensitive take on homosexuality and gender identity.
‘That’s My Boy’ was an official selection in 54 international film festivals from 19 countries, which includes 43rd Athens International Film Festival – a qualifying festival for Oscars and the prestigious Kolkata International Film Festival. It also serves in various national awareness programes, academics and as a study material for two North American universities.
Akhil had also assisted his father in last year’s superhit film, ‘Njan Prakashan’, which also had Fahadh Faasil in the lead. It will be interesting to see what Akhil has in store for a highly efficient actor like Fahadh Faasil.
