Seemaraja declared hit with Rs 40 crore gross from its first week run!!
Sivakarthikeyan’s Seemaraja hit screens last day, on the auspicious occasion of Vinayaka Chathurthi. Being a festive release, the movie was expected to have a grand opening and it has done exactly the same. It is being reported that the movie has done a business of over Rs 40 crores globally. As per a statement released by the makers, 24 AM Studios, Seemaraja had grossed a whopping Rs 13.50 crore from 550 screens in Tamil Nadu alone. As per reports from trade experts, Seemaraja has grossed Rs 27 crore from the extended four-day opening weekend in Tamil Nadu alone. It also topped the Chennai city box office with figures of around Rs 3.50 crores. As reported by us earlier, Seemaraja is only the sixth film to cross the Rs 1 crore mark in the first day in Chennai city box office. Other films to achieve this milestone were Theri, Kabali, Vivegam, Mersal, and Kaala. Despite the mixed reviews, the movie is also doing well in overseas centres like US and UAE.
Seemaraja is the third outing of Sivakarthikeyan and director Ponram after delivering hits with Rajini Murugan and Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam. Samantha plays the female lead while Keerthy Suresh is there in an extended cameo role. Lal, Napolean, Simran and Soori also part of the cast.
