Shah Rukh Khan deserved an Oscar for My Name is Khan: Paulo Coelho
Famous author Paulo Coelho has said superstar Shah Rukh Khan deserved an Oscar award for his performance in the movie My Name is Khan, if Hollywood was not manipulated.
The Brazilian novelist took to micro blogging website, Twitter to praise the actor on the seventh anniversary of the My Name is Khan, directed by Karan Johar.
Along with the tweet, he also posted a screenshot from his Facebook page, where he had written that the movie was only the time he had watched any of Shah Rukh’s films.
Shah Rukh also tweeted saying that it was sad that such films are still relevant and thanked the cast and crew for giving him such a special film.
He tweeted,
“It’s kinda sad too that MNIK is still relevant. But thx Karan Ravi Kajol SEL Shibani Niranjan Deepa Jimmy & all cast/crew for a special film.”
My Name is Khan, released in 2010 told about about the lives of Muslims in the US following the September 11 twin tower attacks. The movie was highly appreciated by the critics and the audience.
It was screened as part of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival’s official selection.
The movie swept the Filmfare awards that year winning awards in all major categories including best director, best actor(Shah Rukh) and best actress(Kajol).
Director of the film, Karan Johar, also thanked Paulo Coelho through a tweet in his official account.
