Shankar slams reports about Suriya replacing Kamal Haasan in Indian 2
Last day social medias were abuzz with talks about Kamal Haasan walking out of the much hyped Indian 2. The movie, to be directed by Shankar, was only recently launched during the finale of Kamal hosted Bigg Boss show. Rumours had it that producer Dil Raju was unhappy with the huge remuneration quoted by Kamal and Shankar, which forced the former to opt out of the project.
As soon as talks about Kamal’s exit surfaced online, talks were on about Suriya replacing him. Soon, Indian 2 started trending in Twitter and other social media platforms. Fans were also excited about Suriya teaming up with Shankar for the first time. But much to their disappointment, the PRO of producer Dil Raju and sources close to Shankar have rubbished these reports as plain rumours.
Indian 2 is the sequel to Shankar-Kamal duo’s 1996 classic hit Indian. The movie, a vigilante crime thriller film featured Kamal Haasan in a dual role. Indian went on to win three National Film Awards including the best actor award for Kamal Haasan’s outstanding performance. It was also India’s official submission for the Academy Award for best foreign language film that year.
As per trustworthy reports, Indian 2 will go on floors only after Shankar and Kamal are free from their respective commitments. The former is busy with the final stages of production of his magnum opus 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. Kamal meanwhile will be trying to wrap up the remaining portions of his shelved projects, Sabaash Naidu and Vishwaroopam 2.
Reportedly, the pre-production works of Indian 2 will kick-start from February, next year. It is being planned as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual and will also be dubbed and released in all major Indian languages. Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations is funding this highly ambitious project.
