Shoot Begins for Akhil Sathyan’s Second Film Starring Nivin Pauly
Director Akhil Sathyan has commenced filming his second feature film, with Malayalam star Nivin Pauly in the lead. The untitled film began rolling in Kochi on Monday, a day of sentimental value as it marks exactly two years since the release of Akhil’s debut film Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum. Touted to be a romantic drama with elements of fantasy and humour, the film is reportedly inspired by real-life events. It is set in the vibrant, rustic locales of Kerala. The story is expected to highlight the lighter, endearing side of Nivin — a persona that audiences have long cherished.
Interestingly, Nivin was Akhil’s original choice for Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum, but scheduling conflicts led to Fahadh Faasil stepping in. With this new film, Akhil finally gets to bring Nivin into a role tailor-made to showcase his romantic-comedy strengths. The female lead is said to be a newcomer, though her identity remains undisclosed. The rest of the cast is also being kept under wraps, adding a layer of intrigue around the project.
The film sees Akhil reuniting with his trusted technical team from his debut. Cinematographer Sharan Velayudhan, music composer Justin Prabhakaran, production designer Rajeevan, and sound designer Anil Radhakrishnan are all returning to lend their creative expertise. Jointly produced by Ajayya Kumar and acclaimed filmmaker Rajeev Menon, the project promises a heartfelt and visually rich cinematic experience. With the shoot now underway, expectations are high for this fresh collaboration between Akhil Sathyan and Nivin Pauly.
