SSMB 29: SS Rajamouli’s Mahesh Babu Starrer To Be A Single Film, Not Two-Part Saga
SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film SSMB 29, starring Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Priyanka Chopra, has been making headlines ever since its announcement. While initial reports suggested that the movie would be a two-part spectacle, fresh updates reveal that Rajamouli has opted for a single-film narrative. The film, set against the backdrop of Kashi, is a high-octane forest adventure that promises to push the boundaries of Indian cinema. With production already underway, the team has an extensive shooting schedule planned until mid-2026, aiming for a grand release in the summer of 2027.
Known for redefining storytelling formats, Rajamouli pioneered the trend of two-part epics with Baahubali. However, he reportedly believes that the industry has overused this format for commercial gains. SSMB 29 will be structured as a standalone film with a massive runtime of around 3 hours and 30 minutes to ensure a tightly woven and engaging story. The narrative is said to blend mythology, reality, and adventure, much like RRR, but on a grander scale. The makers are also working on an official announcement video featuring key footage, which is expected to be released soon.
Apart from its ambitious storytelling, SSMB 29 is also gaining attention for its global reach. Rajamouli is discussing with international studios to bring a Hollywood-level cinematic experience to the project. Additionally, Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli have signed a profit-sharing agreement with producers D.V.V. Danayya and Narayana K.L., ensuring a lucrative partnership. With a star-studded cast, groundbreaking visuals, and a compelling storyline, SSMB 29 is poised to be one of Indian cinema’s most awaited blockbusters.
