Thani Oruvan director Mohan Raja plans to direct Nayanthara as the main lead
Director Mohan Raja is currently busy with the final patch up works of his upcoming movie Velaikkaran starring Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in the leads. The movie is said to be a socially relevant commercial entertainer and is slated to hit screens on September 29.
Velaikkaran is Mohan Raja’s second consecutive film with Nayanthara after the widely acclaimed Thani Oruvan. Nayanthara played the role of Mahima, a forensic expert in the movie. Thani Oruvan was centred around a righteous cop and his attempts to put an end to a rogue scientist’s crime world. Jayam Ravi played the police officer’s role and Aravind Swamy did the antagonist’s part in the movie.
Nayanthara was paired opposite Jayam Ravi in the film. Eventhough she had a full length character, there wasn’t enough scope for her to perform. Mohan Raja in a recent interview revealed that Nayanthara was upset about that but she changed her opinion after watching the preview of Thani Oruvan.
The director is quoted saying, “During Thani Oruvan, I was solely occupied with the two lead characters. It’s quite natural for a top heroine to think that she didn’t have enough prominence in the movie. That is my mistake as a director. Nevertheless, after watching the preview show, she came to me and said she could have cooperated better with me as an actress. She is generous enough to say that.”
Apparently, the director is now planning to make a movie with Nayanthara as the main lead. He already has a story ready and will soon start working on developing the script. Nayanathra is one of the very few female actors in the South to get author backed roles. She already has three such movies lined up for release- Demonte Colony fame Ajay Gnanamuthu’s Imaikka Nodigal, Unnai Pol Oruvan fame Chakri Toleti’s Kolaiyathir Kalam and Gopi Nainaar’s Araam. Lady superstar for a reason!
