Unda: Mammootty to don the khaki once again!!
We were among the first to report about Mammootty joining hands with ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ Khalid Rahman for a movie titled ‘Unda’. Pre-production works for the movie have been progressing for sometime now. The latest we hear is that the movie will start rolling from September. Krishan Sethukumar is producing the movie under the banner of Dharmik Films.
As per our sources within the industry, Mammootty plays a police officer in the movie. Major portions of this movie scripted by Harshad Ali is set in in North Indian states like Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. Recently, director Khalid Rahman, his brother-cinematographer Jimshi Khalid and team visited these states for location scouting. This particular terrain has not been explored much in Malayalam cinema, so Unda promises to be a visual treat for the audience.
Khalid Rahman, a former associate of Anwar Rasheed and Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, made an impressive debut in 2016 with the Asif Ali starrer Anuraga Karikkin Vellam. The movie was both a critical and commercial success. Khalid’s maturity in handling a family subject was unanimously appreciated. When such a promising young filmmaker teams up with Mammootty, expectations are surely on the higher side.
The first look and details regarding the its cast and crew members are expected to be announced very soon. Mammootty meanwhile is shooting for Sethu’s Oru Kuttanadan Blog. The second schedule of his epic film Mamankam has also commenced in Kochi. Mammootty is expected to join the team very soon.
