Vijay Sethupathi in Santosh Sivan’s next?
Recently, we had reported that Santosh Sivan will be remaking the hit Tamil film ‘Maanagaram’ in Hindi. Vikrant Massey has been signed to play one of the lead roles. Malayali producer Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films is backing the film. Latest buzz is that Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to play an important role in the film. However, the makers are yet to confirm it.
‘Maanagaram’ starring Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassanadra and Sri in the lead roles is a hyperlink thriller that got released in 2017. The film was as a sleeper hit at the Tamil Nadu box office. It marked the directorial debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj, who later went on to make ‘Kaithi’ and the Vijay starrer ‘Master’.
The Hindi version of ‘Maanagaram’, would be adapted to suit the North Indian audience. While the original had Chennai city as a character in itself, the Hindi version will be set entirely in Mumbai. Vikrant Massey will be reprising the angry young man’s role played by Sundeep Kishan in Tamil. Veteran Sanjay Mishra is also there in a key role. Vijay Sethupathi is likely to be approached for the grey-shaded character essayed by Madhusudhan Rao.
